EVICTED: THREE GENTLE BUT UNHANDELED MARES DESPERATE FOR PASTURE, FOSTER HOME OR ADOPTION
"Star Fire" (CHESNUT) - may be gaited Paso Fino, "White Cloud" (WHITE) and "Winema" (ALBINO) are all very gentle and have round pen training but have not been haltered yet. I call them "wild horse pocket ponies". They will follow me around, constantly begging for treats. The white mare is quite tame, will eat out of your hand and can be petted on both sides She has a BLM brand. The albino is still very mistrustful but has had the most round pen training. The chestnut will also eat out of your hand but does not want to be touched yet. She has an undiagnosed swelling under her right flank that she has had for several years. It does not seem to affect her. Their hoofs are in decent shape. I do not know their ages but I believe them to be between 8 and 12 years old.

I acquired these mares in Oregon in 2008 from a woman who rescued them from slaughter and then could no longer keep them. I witnessed them being abused repeatedly before I was able to rescue them from their previous owner. They are in Mendocino now where they have been living for the past four years. They have been "evicted" form the property I had been leasing. They must be removed from the property by December 31.. I was also evicted from the property and can no longer care for them. |
