Bella, an older grey Arabian mare, is looking for a good home. She was rescued from a neglectful situation by her current owner, who has unfortunately fallen upon hard economic times like so many of us. I've been taking care of this mare for several months as her owner has been unable to do so, but it isn't something I will be able to sustain for much longer, and her owner has given me permission to find her a new home.
The positive points: Bella, despite her sad past, is a very sweet horse. I don't know exactly how old she is, but late teens seems like a good guess. She behaves for the farrier, ties and has no stable vices. She is sound barefoot and goes English and Western, though currently she needs an intermediate rider. Her gaits are quite nice. She's about 15 hh and pretty. She's current on shots, worming and hoof trim, and her teeth were floated last year.
Bella is blind in one eye. The only difference this makes is that you need to let her know when you are coming up on her blind side, or she might get startled. She is slightly standoffish about new people due to her past, but is very kind and affectionate once she knows you. She tends to be a bit on the thin side (again, years of neglect), but she put on weight nicely in the last couple of months.
With a little work, Bella could be a nice looking, sound older mare, suitable for a confident child or smaller adult rider, or just a nice pasture buddy and pet. I care about this mare and want to see her go to a loving person or family who wants her and can give her the care she needs. Email is the best way to reach me.
