Sparky is 4 years old and has his AQHA papers. Sparky has been started in a very smooth and graceful way. He was trained gently as a saddle horse at 2 and turned out to grow for another year. At 3 he was saddled up and ridden and he never made a fuss either time. He loves people and attention and is neither headstrong nor fearful.

Here he is in his winter pajamas.

He loves the trails and does arena work smartly. He does have the PSSM gene that can cause tieing up so his management has to be specific. You cannot keep a PSSM horse in a stall or in states of inactivity. He needs grass hay and some simple supplements.

Sparky is a very sweet and gentle horse. He looks forward to being with people and gets along very well with other horses and pets.

His current owner reports, " He tied up one day in the round pen after sitting in his stall for a few days.  After that he would have some days were he just didn't want to go forward to work and others that he loved being ridden. In looking for what was wrong we found he tested positive for the the gene PSSM that can cause tieing up.  With this he needs a special diet of grass hay or pasture and a high fat supplement with vitamin e and c. He should be out most all of the time to move around and with consistent light riding to get strong could make a nice riding horse.  The level of riding he can achieve is not known as his current owner is not able to provide all of these things."

Sparky is free to a good home on contract. Please contact Stacy at
