And here they are: The wild ones are visiting the youngsters still at the ranch.

Time to unload the happy traveler!

Gotta cut and paste:

I have to hang onto him - he is eager to get out and the back is not completely opened!

Basho takes it all in....he is like a kid at a new high school.

He must stay in this nice big paddock for a 10 day quarantine. He will be joining up with another gelding that came down from Oregon - Sound Equine Rescue. I guess no one could get along with him either.....It looks like we are taking a selfie of but I am aiming to get a pic of the other guy in the next paddock - his release buddy.

St Nick from Sound Equine Options up in Portland - handsome dude!

Many of you are familiar with the Klaus Hempfling's book "What Horses Reveal." He describes the different personality groups and has physical characteristics that often go with each. I found it very interesting - not unlike humans who develop features that reflect their personality. This is St. Nick - the Oregon horse...

Note the configuration of the tightly held jaw, pursed mouth and the bony structure above and behind the eye….

Its the same as Basho's. Hempfling calls this type "The Sceptic" Not a riding horse. And can be dangerous….they cannot be made to trust much nor bent to another's will. Everything must be on their terms.

Mike and Randy, who work at Montgomery Creek Ranch, will keep an eye out on Basho while Lee, Lisa and I take a look around this magnificient spread!

Ellie Price producer of "The American Mustang" film and fine wines (www.dunstanwines.com/about) takes some time out of her very busy schedule to show us around her 2000 acre mustang refuge. We are deeply grateful to her for providing a home on the range for our Basho. Needless to say - please see the film when it is in your area and do try her excellent Dunstan wines! Dunstan wines on the table mean mustangs on the range!

Ellie received 13 pregnant mustangs with foals at their side last year. Here are the yearlings. They are curious and eager for attention and come right up to you for some. They will be reared and trained as saddle horses. They are really nice looking horses!
