Stone is thought to have been an old roping horse from the Mexican rodeo.  He is 15 hands and 9 yrs old. He was extremely head shy when I adopted him and would not let anyone near his face or ears.  Stone now enjoys a good rub on his face and he "allows" me near his ears.  He has come such a long way and is learning to trust humans.  He has really taken to the lady that feeds him, puts on his fly mask, and  turns him out daily.  He would benefit from a situation where he could still be handled daily as he is nervous at times.  He loves to be in the pasture and comes to the gate and waits when it's time to be turned in...but he is not easy to catch, unless you have a pocketful of carrots to bribe him with.  We believe he associates being caught in pasture with work and his poor little mind hasn't quite forgotten that part yet.

Stone has been diagnosed with navicular disease. Of course he wouldn't let us ride him...it hurt!  He is lame on the trot and on the circle and has been deemed best as a pasture pet.  Stone was 2 to 3 out of 5 lame before we had him xrayed and evaluated and with proper corrective shoeing, Stone is now very comfortable and has a longer stride and much happier dispostion.  He does not need medications to keep him happy....just a good pair of shoes.

Stone is a sweet and gentle horse that really wants to do well.  He needs that special someone to give him a companion home where he can kick back, relax and enjoy his retirement days.  He gets along well with other horses and boy, does he love the ladies!  He is very curious and inquisitive and we think he will be a wonderful addition to a small pasture home where he can get a lot of personalized attention.

Stone stands well for the farrier, is very respectful on and off the harness when you work with him, and will lift his feet for you eagerly and gently.  He loves a good brushing and to be hose down on hot summer days.  Stone is a joy to have for the patient person that will understand that he is a different horse every day.  Some days he wants to be right with you, some days he wants to be by himself ...Stone is a great pasture pet with a lot of potential to become your best friend.
