Whiz is a great candidate for a successful training project. He is really a sweet little horse that will make a nice trail or 4H horse. He has all his ground manners and is being currently saddle trained. Still needs an experienced trainer for his education.

Wizard is an 8 yr old 14 hand pony gelding that was field raised apparently. He has had a dental float, feet trimmed and all his shots.
Clearly no one ever bothered to do anything with or for Mr. Wizard - and now in Jenny's firm and gentle care he finds he likes the attention a lot!
Here is her update 3/15/11:
"He has great ground manners, ground ties, picks up feet, stands for farrier, and is a great listener. He responds quickly to voice commands and is eager to please both on the ground and under saddle. He needs a slow hand as he is still scared he may be hurt by people. He is currently working with wash time and the hose but stands very well. He accepts the bit but rides better with a hackamore or bitless bridle. He has an excellent stride more of a horse than a pony. GREAT mover and super fun personality to ride. He is being worked over ground poles and responds very well to all cues. He is going to make someone very happy with his great attitude, fun personality and eagerness to please. He loves carrots but a good brush and scratch will earn many bonus points in his book."

Dec 1: Jenny - Wizards Trainer - reports:
"When Whizard first came to SAFER it took him about 20 minutes to allow me to stand beside him and just touch his withers with caution in his eye. He was scared, thin and wanting so desperately to feel safe and loved. By my third visit I could slowly walk up to him and stand beside him gently rubbing his back. Whizard allowed me to place his halter and lead on him by the third visit and has been the most trusting level headed boy since then. He is so eager to please and just needs space and time to make sure everything is okay. He lunges both ways very well and stops to make certain he is doing well and goes right back to work. His gait is wonderful and everyday I worked with him I introduce new elements with no issues. His introduction to the saddle was quick and smooth, he checked it out a few times and then allowed me to place it on his back. Now I can place the saddle, tighten the girth and just the other day ride him with not one issue. I let him know I am there to help him and enjoy his company and in return he has given me the world. He is truly an amazing boy with a big heart ready to find his forever home. He has found a special place in my heart and I know there is someone that will love him and find a special bond for life.
